Pathology of hereditary nephritis.
This report describes the renal pathology in three siblings with hereditary nephritis. All three cases showed combined features of chronic glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, and interstitial nephritis. Foam cells were seen in only one case. These findings support the contention of Krickstein, Gloor, and Balogh (1966) that the renal changes in hereditary nephritis are those of a mixed nephritis.
متن کاملCharacterization of feline hereditary retinal dystrophies using clinical, functional, structural and molecular genetic studies.
Only in recent years have specific mutations been elucidated for feline hereditary retinal dystrophies. Molecular genetic characterization of feline diseases has so far been a slow process but with a full genome sequence for the cat recently completed and the development of a feline single nucleotide polymorphism chip, the characterization of feline monogenic disorders will be significantly sim...
متن کاملFactor VII Gene Defects: Review of Functional Studies and Their Clinical Implications
Coagulation factors belong to a family of plasma glycosylated proteins that should be activated for appropriate blood coagulation. Congenital deficiencies of these factors cause inheritable hemorrhagic diseases. Factor VII (FVII) deficiency is a rare bleeding disorder with variable clinical symptoms. Various mutations have been identified throughout the F7 gene and can affect all the protein do...
متن کاملAcute Experimental Glomerular Nephritis in Rabbits: a Correlation of Morphological and Functional Changes
It has been shown in this paper that structural and functional changes in acute glomerular nephritis in rabbits produced by nephrotoxins by the method of Masugi are the same as those found in human glomerular nephritis. The morbid anatomy is characterized by glomerular cell proliferation, and in some cases by deposition of fibrin and crescent formation of the glomeruli and by fatty changes of t...
متن کاملFunctional and morphological studies of protein transcytosis in continuous endothelia.
Continuous microvascular endothelium constitutively transfers protein from vessel lumen to interstitial space. Compelling recent biochemical, ultrastructural, and physiological evidence reviewed herein demonstrates that protein transport is not the result of barrier "leakiness" but, rather, is an active process occurring primarily in a transendothelial vesicular pathway. Protein accesses the ve...
